macOS 26 Beta 1 - app crashing at launch

Hello, I know it’s way early in the process, but as a fellow programmer, I know not all configurations lead to crashes and issues, so it ma help you getting started troubleshooting the bug by reporting it early.

The app does not start on macOS 26 Beta 1. I can provide crash logs as needed. If you need me to give you any more details or test any potential fixes, I can. If you believe this is an Apple bug, let me know and I’ll wait for them to fix it.

Thank you very much

Hi Mathieu, thank you for the heads-up!
I recently set up macOS 26 on my Mac and will look into compatibility with Timeframe now…

I’m only able to run macOS 26 in a virtual machine at the moment. And due to a bug with macOS VMs and Provisioning Profiles (https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/787500), I can’t test Timeframe in macOS 26.
Can you please send the crash logs that you got when launching the app?

There you go, thanks!

Cool thanks, I can now see in which line of code the crash occurs.
It might actually be an Apple bug…

Hi Niko, the bug is still present on beta 3. Do you still think it’s on Apple’s end? Were you able to run your VM or install it somewhere?

Thank you!

Hi Mathieu, Thank you for the update!
I have investigated the crash now and know what is causing it. Apple has changed the “architecture” of the macOS menu bar. It is a bit complicated to fix the crash on my end. But if nothing changes regarding this when the public beta is released (probably soon), I will release an update with a fix!

I really like your profile pic:)

Hi Niko,

Great! I miss your great tool on the mac, fortunately, it works on iOS 26 beta since beta 1, so I can time my coding sessions with the iPhone at least

For the picture, thanks, it’s not me, but was taken by me, on top of a mountain in the Adirondacks, in New York state!

Hello Niko,

As we are almost on the 2 weeks mark after the first public beta, do you have any updates on this?

Thanks!

Hi Mathieu,

Yes, the latest update to Timeframe works on macOS 26. Sorry for the late reply!

As macOS Tahoe is not my main OS, I haven’t done thorough testing. If you notice any UI bug, please let me know here.

Thank you!

Amazing! Didn’t catch the update because of an issue with App Store haha! Gotta love beta testing!

Will let you know if anything. Thanks!
