Dropdown from notification bar stops working

Whenever I either right click the icon in the notification bar to add a new task, or whenever I left click and use search, from then on, the left click drop down stops functioning. Meaning that nothing is clickable. I have to force quit the app for it to work again.

Thanks for reporting this bug!
I will try to find out what might be causing this.

What macOS version are you on?
Are you using a dual screen setup?
When this issue is occurring, the left click drop down is showing like normal, but nothing reacts to a mouse click, right? Is it still possible to use keyboard navigation to select and “click” things in the left click drop down?

Hi Niko,
My OS is Sequoia 15.5 on a MacBook Pro.
Yes, I am using a duel screen setup.

When the dropdown stops working on the external, it’s still responsive on the laptop monitor. However, on the external screen, while it’s unresponsive to the mouse, it still responds to the keyboard. After it responds to the keyboard, it will again be responsive to the mouse. One weird thing it also does, the left click dropdown becomes scrollable (see attached). Then, if I close the dropdown with it scrolled all the way down, like the screenshot shows, it remains scrollable when I open it again. But, if I scroll all the way up before I close it, when I open it again, it’s no longer scrollable.

All of this happens only on the external screen. The laptop screen works normally.

Hey, thanks for the detailed reply!
I will try this when I have access to another screen tomorrow.
I am planning to release a feature update to the app within the next days, and want to include a fix for this issue as well.

I am now working on this bug, but I am unable to reproduce it at this time.

When the dropdown menu fails, does the highlighting of its elements on mouse-over still function correctly?

Is it possible to reproduce this bug consistently every time you perform the actions you described in your initial post? Does it depend on whether the Timeframe’s “Main Window” is open or not?

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi Niko,
I honestly haven’t noticed if it acts up only when the main window is open.
The bug seems to be intermittent. It’s not acting up this morning, and maybe that’s why it has taken me so long to bring it up. It’s been going on for months now, maybe since the last update? Knowing that I can easily work around it without force quitting the app, it will be easier to work with. Maybe it’s another app making it act up? Who knows? I will try to keep track of what is happening and see if I can help figure it out.

Ok, I understand.
I have made some changes to the code regarding this issue now and will release them with the next update soon.
Thanks for keeping track of it!

Just for reference, this seems related/similar to Popover shifted out of the screen when stoppign the timer - #5 by purple847

Hey, thanks both of you! I think I finally figured it out now:)
These bugs appear when “Hide search field” in Menu Bar Settings is enabled. I am working on a fix now and will release an update asap.

The latest updates to Timeframe (v4.3) and Timelime (v3.3) should be fixing this bug now:)

Thanks Niko!
